Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday alleged that the wheat being distributed by the Punjab Government to the poor and ‘dalit’ beneficiaries under the ‘Atta-Dal’ scheme in the state was not fit for human consumption.
Party’s senior leader and Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, who is also AAP’s state Kisan wing chief, and Mahal Kalan MLA Kulwant Singh Pandori submitted a memorandum to the state Food and Civil Supply Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu urging him to look into the matter and plug the snags in the ‘Atta-Dal’ scheme and stamp out corruption in the system.
Sandhwan said that he had been to certain villages under Faridkot district to take stock of the distribution of food items under the scheme, and the situation was unnerving.
