As many as 966 cases are pending with Haryana lokayukta. The newly appointed Haryana lokayukta, Justice (retd.) NK Aggarwal on Wednesday said that 966 cases are pending with the lokayukta and priority is to settle these cases.
Justice Aggarwal while talking to the media said that complaints are received by lokayukta on daily basis and his priority would be to settle the cases as soon as possible.
Agarwal succeeds Justice (retd.) Pritam Pal, who completed his five-year term on January 18, 2016. Agarwal’s appointment to the post came six months after the retirement of Justice Pritam Pal despite State Government’s claims of zero tolerance towards corruption.
Notably, former Haryana lokayukta Pritam Pal, had last year in a high profile case ordered registration of FIRs against five former Haryana Congress MlAs in the alleged cash-for-change of land use scam “exposed” by the Indian National lok Dal.
When asked about such high profile cases, Justice Aggarwal said that complaints related to corruption would be dealt seriously whether it is high profile or not.
The former Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, Justice (retd.) NK Aggarwal had taken the oath of office on Tuesday.
The new lokayukta Agarwal had assumed charge as Judge in High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur on March 31, 2009. He relinquished this charge on July 23, 2014 on attaining the age of 62 years.
