Punjab on Saturday registered 79 more fatalities due to Covid-19, taking the death toll to 15,009, while 1907 fresh cases pushed the infection count to 577,997, according to a medical bulletin.
The number of active cases declined to 24454 on Saturday. Eight deaths were reported from Bathinda, seven from Amritsar and Sangur, six from Fazilka and Patiala, five each from SAS Nagar, Muktsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana; four from Pathankot, the bulletin said.
Ludhiana reported 201 fresh cases, followed by Jalandhar (184), Hoshiarpur (150), Patiala (147), Muktsar (129), Amritsar (114), Bathinda (104) and SAS Nagar (99). With 3619 more recoveries, the number of cured persons in the state reached 5,38,534, as per the bulletin.
There are 295 critical patients who are on ventilator support, 704 other critical patients and 3424 others on oxygen support, A total of 95,98,059 samples have been collected for testing so far in the state, the bulletin said.
