A day after a woman employee posted in the Department of Education Department, Chandigarh was tested positive for COVID-19, another female employee was tested positive on Sunday.
A total of seven fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in Chandigarh taking the total number of cases to 466 on Sunday. The fresh cases have been reported from Sector 20, Sector 21 and Dhanas.
A 26 years old female employee from UT Education Department, a resident of Sector 20, was tested positive. On Saturday, a woman employee from UT Education Department, who is a resident of Mohali was tested positive.
Following the development, the office of UT Education Department in Additional Deluxe Building in Sector 9 has been closed till further orders and the staff has been asked to undergo home quarantine.
The other six fresh cases were reported from Sector 21 and Dhanas. Till evening, the number of cases stood at 466 including 65 active cases.
395 patients have so far recovered in the city, the bulletin stated. 8419 samples were tested so far in Chandigarh. The city has reported six COVID-19 related fatalities till date.
