More than 7.1 lakh cases have been settled in the National lok Adalats held across the country at all levels from the taluk courts to the High Courts.
The National lok Adalat, organised by the National legal Services Authority (NAlSA) along with the respective state legal services authorities in 654 districts and 2,267 taluks, dealt with 3.98 lakh pending and 3.12 lakh pre-litigation cases, said an official spokesman of NAlSA.
The total value of the settlement amount is 2100 crore, he said.
He further said that the said disposal would result into easing the burden of the pending cases as the said disposal in one day is almost equal to disposal of all the courts throughout the country in approx 18 days.
The third bi-monthly National lok Adalat for the year 2017 was held under the patronage of Justice JS Khehar, Chief Justice of India and Justice Dipak Misra, Judge, Supreme Court of India & executive chairman of the NAlSA, said the spokesman.
The lok Adalat has benefitted the common man and it has been achieved not only because of legal Services Authorities/Committees but also because of cooperation extended by the judges, lawyers, banking and insurance companies.
