A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first rally in Shimla, the city BJP got a boost for the forthcoming Municipal Corporation elections, as more than 65 local leaders joined the party at the BJP office in the State Capital.

Congress leader Madhu Sood, who remained Mayor of Shimla from 2007 to 2012, joined the party in presence of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and BJP State president Satpal Singh Satti. Her husband PK Sood also joined the party with their supporters.

Brij lal, Chairman, Kailash Fedration, Kanwaljeet Singh and Sanjay Sharma both former councillors, former Zila Parishad member Girdhari lal are among the other leaders, who joined BJP on Wednesday. Extending a welcome to the new entrants, State BJP President Satpal Satti said that people were getting into the party fold as they were impressed with the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Government.

He said, BJP will first rout Congress and others rival parties in Shimla Municipal Corporation, to make ground for a Congress-free governance in the State in the next Assembly polls.

Terming the inclusion of local leaders to be a healthy sign for the party, former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said the growing graph of BJP is an evidence that the BJP will achieve its mission 50+ rather even 60+ was now seeming achievable for the party in next Assembly elections.
