A five-day training session aimed at sensitising the teachers and police on issues like gender, child rights and social sensitisation, concluded on Friday. The UT Department of Social Welfare Department had organised the five-day training at Senior Citizen Home Sector 43 — here for school teachers, Police officers and new unit staff of UT Department of Social Welfare.

About 42 teachers from different Government Senior Secondary Schools, 10 Police Officers (4 SI & 6 ASI) and 10 officials of different units under the aegis of Department of Social Welfare participated in this training. On the concluding day, KK Sharma, Advisor to UT Administrator, appreciated the efforts of Department of Social Welfare to organise these types of training programmes on gender, child rights and social issues.

“Such an initiative paves the way for involvement of stakeholders, including community participation,” he said.
