To provide hassle-free, effective, and accountable governance to the people, Punjab’s Governance Reforms Department is facilitating the 430 civic services to the people in 537 Sewa Kendras as a part of its slogan — People’s Government at People’s Door.
“Deputy Commissioners should ensure at least once a week visit to Sewa Kendras where the people’s feedback can be obtained, leading to speedy delivery of services to them,” said the state’s Governance Reforms Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer during the state-level event organized on Tuesday under ‘Good Governance Week’ while addressing the Deputy Commissioners and Field Officers of all districts through video conference.
The Minister said that efforts should be made to publicize the public welfare schemes launched by the Government and make people aware regarding the same. Employees who provide better services in the Sewa Kendra should be honoured to boost their morale, he said.
Similarly, during this Good Governance Week, special camps should be organized especially for the people living in border districts and remote areas to provide civic services closer to home.
Hayer said that the unnecessary documents required for many services should be reduced, for which a portal is being created to get people’s feedback. “The Department is constantly reviewing the works in which pending cases are involved. Apart from this, the further reduction should be brought in a number of send-back cases,” he added.
