A 32-year-old man was mowed down by a truck on Thursday at Sector 38. The incident took place in the evening, when a rashly driven truck jumped the red light and hit the man who was riding his bicycle. Jaipal, a Grade IV employee, was returning home to Dadumajra from work when a truck rammed into him. The registration number of the truck has still not been recovered by the police and after the accident the accused driver fled from the spot in a jiffy.
Onlookers rushed to rescue Jaipal and informed the local police about the incident. Meanwhile, the cyclist was rushed to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Relatives of the deceased person, who were agitated after the incident, protested in-front of the police station in Sector 39 on Friday and demanded speedy action against the accused driver.
Gurmukh Singh, SHO sad that the police officials who are investigating the matter have acquired CCTV footage from the scene of accident and investigations are being carried out to nail in the accused truck driver. Jaipal is survived by his wife and four children, meanwhile a case has been lodged against the unknown truck driver by the police and further investigations are under progress, added the SHO.
