The local police have nabbed three members of notorious Ramesh luhar gang after a brief encounter near Sugar Mill area under the jurisdiction of Shivaji Colony Police Station here on late Tuesday evening.
The police have also recovered three pistols of 9 mm and one each of 32 and 315-bore and 14 live cartridges from their possession.
Rohtak SP Vivek Sharma informed that the trio had hatched a conspiracy to spread panic among the city residents by killing husband of a woman candidate in the Rohtak Municipal Corporation polls scheduled to be held on June 2.
“Those have been arrested include Anil of Dagarpur village, Sandeep and Dinesh of ladaut village here. Sandeep and Anil are the accused in various cases of murder, attempt to murder and carrying illegal arms while two cases are booked against Dinesh in the Urban Estate Police Station,” said the SP.
Sharma maintained that they had got a tip-off on Tuesday that the criminals were roaming in the Shivaji colony area with an intention to perpetrate heinous crime. “Taking a swift action on the information, I constituted a special police team which carried out a raid in the Shivaji colony area and nabbed the trio after a brief encounter,” the SP added.
The trio, during the police interrogation, revealed that they had come here to murder husband of a woman candidate of the municipal corporation polls. Conspiracy of the murder was hatched some days ago and they had bought illegal weapons from Munger area to execute it, Sharma informed.
“All the accused were on Wednesday produced before a local court which sent them in police remand for seven days. I have also recommended names of policemen who played vital role in nabbing the criminals to Director General of Police (DGP) for their promotions,” said the SP.
