274 rallies in 74 days, Mann sets record

leading from the front, the campaign committee in-charge of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Bhagwant Mann has set a record of sorts by addressing a total of 274 political rallies in 74 days across the state.

locked in a fierce ballot battle against Punjab Deuty Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal and Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu in Jalalabad, Mann campaigned across the state for almost all the party candidates — emerging as a key instrument to generate vote and support for the party.

“I have addressed 274 political rallies in 74 days, that is about three rallies per day…and now today, I am back in the Parliament, whereas leaders of other political parties have gone for holidays,” said Mann while talking to the media outside the Parliament.

Asked whether he was in race for the post of Chief Minister, in case AAP comes to power, he said: “No, I am not in the race to become Chief Minister. Moreover, it is prerogative of the party’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal to decide who will be the Chief Minister of Punjab.”

Mann is the key “crowd puller” for AAP, which could be gauged from the fact that in his rallies at several places, more than 20,000 people gathered, whereas even the rallies addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab, there was not much crowd.
