Under “operation Muskaan-III” aimed at tracing the missing and destitute children, Haryana Police has traced 2,634 children during the month of July in the State.
“Among the traced missing children, 2,270 are boys and 364 are girls. The State Police has achieved success in re-uniting 2,280 missing children with their parents under the ‘operation Muskaan-III’ from July 1 to 31,” said Director General of Police, BS Sandhu.
He said that a total of 354 children were sent to shelter home or children home of concerned district for their security and appropriate care due to non-availability of any information regarding their parents.
Sandhu said this drive to re-unite the missing children with their parents was conducted by the Haryana Police with the support of Women and Child Development Department, labour Department, Child Welfare Council and Non-Government Organisations.
The first campaign of this kind was launched in the country in January 2015 in which 3000 missing children were traced. Out of these traced children, 99 were from Haryana.
Under this, anti-human trafficking units of State Crime Branch had reunited 182 children involved in begging with their parents through child welfare committees in December 2015.
