25 weapon holders booked in Bahadurgarh

The Bahadurgarh Police have booked 25 weapon holders who had managed to procure arms licences from Nagaland on the basis of fake documents. All these people belong to Bahadurgarh sub-division and had been carrying the weapons on these bogus licences. Interestingly, some of the accused have a criminal record too hence they chose the Nagaland way to obtain the fake arms licence from there.

Sources said that two separate cases had been registered against the weapon holders following the recommendations of Special Investigation Team (SIT) that was formed by Rohtak IGP to probe the case thoroughly.

As many as 12 people had been booked by City Police Station while the linepaar Police had registered a criminal case against remaining ones. No arrest had been made in this regard yet, said sources.

“Further relevant documents pertaining to the case have been collected before initiating the process of arresting the accused. Weapons of most of the accused are already in possession of the police as they had deposited them at the time of lok Sabha and Assembly elections,” said Bahadurgarh DSP Shamsher Dahiya.

He maintained the SIT had already recovered over 200 fake arms licences procured from Nagaland in Jhajjar district and around 40 people involved in this inter-state racket had so far been booked.

“As per the SIT’s investigation, a large number of people residing in Gurgaon and Mewat districts also got the arms licenses from Nagaland on the basis of fake documents. As many as 70 such persons hailing from Gurgaon district have been detected who are carrying the weapons on the licenses issued by Nagaland authorities,” said the sources.

Moreover, involvement of several gun-houses has also been found in this illegal trade as they violated the arms act by selling the weapons to fake arms licence holders without any verification, sources added.

“Besides private gun-houses located in Haryana and Delhi, the licensees also managed to buy firearms from Government Arms Factory in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh). Moreover, some gun-shops have also issued bullets more than the monthly limit,” said sources.
