Surjewala accuses BJP of betraying farmers
Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and communications in-charge of the party, Randeep Singh Surjewala on Monday accused the BJP led Central and Haryana Governments of betraying the farmers. “The minimum support price (MSP) announced by the Union Government on July 4 does not match the promise of ‘cost + 50 percent profit’ made by the BJP in the run up to the 2014 lok Sabha polls. The stark reality is that the Union Government has betrayed the farmers in last four years on this solemn promise,” said Surjewala while talking to the mediapersons here. The MlA from Haryana’s Kaithal said, “Staring at an imminent defeat in 2019 polls, the BJP Government attempted to disguise the MSP announcement on July 4 as an ‘electoral lollipop’ for credit seeking and duping the farmers.”
