Crop cluster development programme in Haryana

Published on:
To eliminate middlemen and double the income of farmers in the State, Crop Cluster Development Programme was launched by the Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, OP Dhankar in Gurugram.
Dhankar said that grading and packing of farmers produce would be done at these cluster centres, besides providing fertilisers, medicines and seeds. Under this scheme, 140 clusters have been established in 340 villages of the State and one crop cluster centre each would be established at these clusters. These clusters would prove beneficial in selling farmers produce, he added.
The Minister said that it became possible with the hard work of farmers that Haryana was number one in terms of production of wheat and paddy. He said that every year about 13 crore quintals food grains was exported to other states.
Dhankar said that farmers should themselves do marketing of their produce. If farmers would keep their access to people, they would not only generate more income, but also people would get fresh vegetables and fruits.
