Haryana issue advisory
Chandigarh: Haryana Irrigation and Water Resources Department has issued an advisory cautioning people against swimming or bathing in canals. The advisory states that bathing in canals could be dangerous even if the person has swimming skills, as water level in canals can rise suddenly, and their walls and floors may be slippery. It is not advisable to bathe or swim in flowing water as it is trickier to navigate the current, leading to increased risk of getting drowned or being swept away. The spokesman said people should avoid bathing and swimming in canals, and stop others from doing so.
