KEJRIWAl, BADAl ARE ‘MEESNE lUTERE’: CAPT
ludhiana: Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh on Sunday equated Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal as ‘meesne lutere’ (cunning thieves). lashing out at both the leaders, he said that they both deserved to be thrown out of Punjab. He also appealed to the voters to ensure a two-third victory for the Congress to save the state from the clutches of such ‘goondas’.
Capt Amarinder said that he would shatter Badal’s prestige to smithereens in lambi, just as the Akali leader had shattered the pride of Punjab and its people in the past 10 years. “Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP is a ‘toli of luteras’ (gang of thieves),” he said while hitting out at him asking why he did not trust Punjabis and was stationing outsiders on poll duty in Punjab. Reiterating that he had chosen to contest from lambi to give a good thrashing to Badal, Capt Amarinder said that he would teach Badal a lesson and also give a lesson to all politicians that they could not hope to get away with cheating and looting people.
KEJRIWAl IN DElHI MOST CORRUPT: SHARMA
Chandigarh: Expressing confidence that Punjab would not be as unfortunate as Delhi in terms of governance, Congress senior national leader and former Union Minister Anand Sharma on Sunday said that Arvind Kejriwal government in the national capital was the most corrupt ever and was being run from Tihar jail.
Pointing out that AAP had failed to fulfill even a single promise made to the people of Delhi, Sharma said that the fact that Kejriwal was bringing people from outside to manage his party’s poll campaign in Punjab clearly showed that he did not trust the people of the state.
He also accused Kejriwal of coming to Punjab only to loot the state and aggravate problems of its people, who had been suffering in a big way under the Badal regime.
MAYAWATI TO VISIT PUNJAB ON JAN 30: BSP
Chandigarh: BSP supremo and Uttar Pradesh’s former Chief Minister Mayawati will address two rallies in the poll bound Punjab on January 30. BSP’s state president Rashpal Raju on Sunday said that in her a one-day visit to Punjab, she will address election rallies at Phagwara and Mehil Kalan in Barnala area on January 30.
Raju flayed RSS ideologue Manmohan Vaidya for his January 20 comments at Jaipur literature Festival favouring review of the reservation policy as continuance in perpetuity that will promote sectarianism. “Reservation is not ‘bheekh’ (alms), but our right enshrined in the Constitution by Dr BR Ambedkar,” he said. “The RSS and Modi-led BJP Government are anti-poor, anti-dalit and anti-people. They are always against reservation,” Raju alleged. “Earlier, statements by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and now by its spokesperson Vaidya has let the cat out of the bag and exposed their anti-dalit mindset.”
PHOOlKA lASHES OUT AT CAPT FOR EQUATING HIMSElF WITH ‘MARD AGAMBRA’
Jalandhar: Condemning Punjab Congress chief Capt Amarinder Singh and cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu for “hurting religious sentiments”, AAP’s senior leader HS Phoolka on Sunday said that Congress should be shameful for these acts. Phoolka lashed out at Capt Amarinder for getting him compared with ‘Mard Agambra’ — one of the couplets used by Sikhs used for Guru Gobind Singh. He also censured Sidhu, a new entrant in Congress, for distorting popular Sikh couplet at Amritsar wherein he reportedly said: ‘Jab tak Congress bahal na karau, Sidhu naam na kehau’.
“PPCC secretary Harbans Singh Pandher compared Capt Amarinder with ‘Mard Agambra’ during a rally at Bassi Pathana, which is highly deplorable and condemnable…Congress has done so in frustration of smelling humiliating defeat of Congress in the ensuing assembly elections,” he said. Congress deliberately did so to disturb the peace of Punjab by instigating Sikhs through this shameful act, Phoolka said adding that Congress leader must have applied his mind before indulging in such a shameful act.
“Doesn’t Sidhu, as a Sikh, know what wrong he has done by distorting the popular religious couplet which Sikhs use for Guru Gobind SinghIJ” Phoolka quipped revealing that earlier Bikram Majithia did the same during the campaign of Arun Jaitley during lok Sabha poll.
“Sidhu’s statement itself indicates that Congress was dumped in Punjab and he (Sidhu) was brought by Rahul Gandhi to revive it in Punjab”, Phoolka said adding that even Sidhu would not be able to revive Congress which has already dumped in Punjab by people.
AAP CAllS SUKHBIR’S BlUFF FOR OFFERING SOPS TO FARMERS, RAISING PENSIONS
Chandigarh: AAP on Sunday called the bluff of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal who has offered sops to farmers and BPl families seeing imminent and humiliating defeat of SAD-BJP alliance which ruthlessly looted people of state for ten years. AAP’s State convener Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi said that ironically, Sukhbir has no remorse of his past sins and blatant misuse of powers by him, plundering the resources of state and promoting family business. He said that Sukhbir didn’t even spared holy Guru Granth Sahib for promoting his evil political designs.
Holding Sukhbir and his father Parkash Singh Badal responsible for suicides of over 30,000 farmers in Punjab during ten years of SAD-BJP rule, Ghuggi said that it has no meaning of waiving loans of farmers and enhancing welfare pensions. “Spate of suicides by debt ridden farmers had not moved Badals, rather Akali Dal leaders took an opportunity to grab the land holdings of grieving small farmers,” he said.
He accused that the Badal Government, instead of giving a healing touch to under-debt farmers, fudged the figures of suicides to deny compensation to victims and suppressed their protests with the help of police. “Out of 200 farmers who committed suicide in last two years in Sangrur district alone, only 27 were paid compensation” Ghuggi reminded Sukhbir. He said that SAD-BJP Government had paid `250 monthly welfare pension to old age persons, widows and handicapped people for nine years and enhanced to `500 per month in the tenth year of their rule.
