IndiGo announces new flights
Chandigarh: IndiGo will launch its first flight on the Chandigarh-Delhi route, with effect from February 18. With this, Chandigarh will also be connected to Kochi (via Delhi) with a daily flight. With the launch of these new flights, the airline will operate 700 daily flights, connecting 39 destinations. These new flights will allow corporate and leisure travelers to experience the matchless on-time performance IndiGo is synonymous with, thus further consolidating IndiGo’s position as the fastest growing airline in India, said Aditya Ghosh, president IndiGo. The new flight schedules are 11:30 am from Chandigarh to Delhi and 10 am Delhi to Chandigarh. 11:30 to 16:40 from Chandigarh to Kochi via Delhi and 6 am to 11 am from Kochi to Chandigarh via Delhi.
New machine gene expert launched in PGIMER
Chandigarh: MDRTB which used to take 2 to 3 months to diagnose by conventional techniques now will be diagnosed in 2 hours by new machine i.e Gene Xpert which was launched in Microbiology Department and inaugurated by UT Home Secretary Anurag Aggarwal in the presence of Prof Y K Chawla, Director PGIMER. This will also help the patients from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal as the tests will be done free of cost under RNTCP which otherwise would cost Rs 2000. TB lab of PGI Chandigarh has world class diagnostic facilities for tuberculosis. All tests including molecular assays are accreditated by RNTCP/central TB division. MDRTB is increasing problem in India. According to WHO, nearly 50% of the world’s burden of Multiple drug resistant -TB cases is in India and China.
Education Fair organised by Idp education
Chandigarh: IDP Education India, the student placement service provider organised multi-destination Education Fair in Chandigarh on Wednesday, at The Taj Hotel from 11am to 5pm for students aspiring to pursue higher education abroad. IDP Education Fair in Chandigarh had representatives & faculties from Canada, New Zealand and the UK who came together to meet Indian students aspiring to study in their countries. ATS holds Make India, Know India workshop
Derabassi: To inculcate the spirit of patriotism in students, ATS Valley School held a workshop in which students were involved in various activities which helped them know about India. The highlight of the workshop was when students were given a jigsaw puzzle and asked to solve the same. The students took part in the activity with great enthusiasm. The students who participated were from KG, Nursery and Class I. They were told about the different states of the country and their traditions and culture. The children were also informed about some prominent tourist places in every state.

Education seminar held
Panchkula: An International Education Seminar was organised at Holy Child school, Panchkula. The seminar which was conducted by US educationalist George Burke, was well attended by over 200 students of class ninth and tenth. The seminar provided the students and teachers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the US Higher Education System. Students gained first-hand experience of a cross section of US institutions and met with key university administrators and officials responsible for international programs and activities at their institutions. The participants learned about various facets of U.S. higher education, including the types of institutions, accreditation, curriculum development, student services and international education on US campuses, as well as shared knowledge on Indian higher education
