Battling to save the newborns in the State, Haryana Government would launch the second phase of Mission Indradhanush from November 2 to 8 to ensure full immunisation of the children.
“As many as 20 lakh children between six months
and five years of age would be administered micronutrient supplements under Micronutrient Supplementation Programme-2015,” said Hayana Health Minister Anil Vij on Wednesday. A meeting of State task Force was held in this regard.
The Minister said that Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (IPV) would also be introduced during this programme. Under this campaign, supplements of iron and folic acid, Vitamin A and deworming using tablet albendazole would be administered to children between six months and five years of age.
Also, samples of salt being used by people in their houses would be tested for the adequate iodine level. Vij said that the second phase of Mission Indradhanush would be implemented in 14 districts of the State. These districts, including Mewat, Gurgaon, Panipat, Bhiwani, Hisar, Sirsa, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Sonepat, Yamunanagar, Rohtak, Rewari, Jhajjar and Panchkula, have been identified by the Central Government on the basis of lack of immunisation.

Vij added that the third dose of oral polio vaccine would be administered as per the ‘Global Polio End Game Strategy’ with the slogan of “Polio se Double Surksha”.
