Punjab to consider admissions in Diploma courses
Mohali: Students seeking admissions in Technical Diploma course in Punjab may soon look forward to seek admissions twice in a year, Minister for Technical Education Madan Mohan Mittal said. He said that Punjab Government would soon positively consider the proposal to start the January Batch admissions in Diploma courses. The model has been successfully implemented in degree courses in Punjab Technical University (PTU) and now to solve the problems of matriculate students Government would consider to start admissions twice in a year i.e July and January session.
CII presents 5S Excellence awards
Chandigarh: CII 5S Excellence Awards 2015 for the Northern Region were presented by R M Khanna, Past Chairman, CII Northern Region & Managing Director, Stanley Engineering Pvt ltd along with Capt Alok Sharma, Chairman, CII NR Committee on MSMEs in the presence of other senior CII officials at CII NR Headquarters in Chandigarh. Calling the 5 S Techniques as the foundation to excellence, R M Khanna emphasized that “MSME entrepreneurs have limited resources of time and money and hence it becomes all the more important for them to be implement 5S carefully and hence build design capabilities which enable them to increase their productivity effectively and reduce costs”.
Promoted College Principals get postings
Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has allotted stations to the newly promoted principals of the Government colleges. The Higher Education Department had taken choice of stations from the promoted principals.
Rotary Club observes Global Hand Washing Day
Chandigarh: Rotary Club of Chandigarh observed the Global Hand Washing Day at the Rotary House in Chandigarh. Rotary Club President DP Singh said that the Club had been working with various schools for past several months especially those in the surrounding villages and slums to sensitise the children to keep their hands clean and wash them with soap regularly, as a part of our efforts to build a culture of hygiene. About 80 children from the slums of Dhanas and Panchkula were brought to Rotary House where they were shown videos, given demonstration in hand washing and personal hygiene by the wives of Rotarians including Secretary Mona Khattar, Sukrita, Abha Sharma.

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government has issued transfer and posting orders of an IAS officer with immediate effect. Sangeeta Tetarwal, Assistant Commissioner (Under Training), Ambala has been posted as Joint Secretary, Information and Public Relations, Cultural Affairs and languages and Grievances Departments against vacant post.
Yogasana Sports Championship to start today
Chandigarh: The 31st Chandigarh State Yogasana Sports Championship will commence on Friday in the premises of the Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Chandigarh. The two- day Championship is being organized by Chandigarh Yoga Association and Government College of Yoga Education and Health. The championship will be inaugurated by Maninder Singh, Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board.
Board of Baba Hira Singh Bhattal institute formed
Chandigarh: Punjab Government has constituted the Board of Governors of the Baba Hira Singh Bhattal Institute of Engineering and Technology, lehragaga. Technical Education Minister would be Chairman Ex-officio and Principal Secretary to the Government of Punjab Department of Finance or his representative not below the rank of joint Secretary would be the member. The Board has been constituted for a tenure of three years.
