Parking hassle puts city cops on toes

Parking hassle at the various SCOs, in the city beautiful has left the police officers gasping for breath. Besides, solving other crime cases, police personnel are doubling as agony aunts too. A PCR employee said everyday they get four to five calls to settle dispute, pertaining to parking issue. Few days back, a lady sat on the road because the PCR personnel refused to register a FIR against the car owner who parked the car behind the ladies’ scooter, disabling her from getting it out of the parking lot. Parking calls are now making the city cops see blue, with their toll rising by the day.

Put the lights off’

Night Shelters, which have been built in Chandigarh to provide the destitute relief from the biting cold outside, are every now and then frequented by unwelcome guest, mostly tipplers lost in the colour of the spirited water. Rashmi, a resident of Himachal Pradesh who spent a night in one of the night-shelter near PGI witnessed one such unruly guest. It was a teenager who took shelter in the same tent as Rashmi and reeking of alcohol kept everybody awake. The PGI night shelter is built near a pelican light pole. This teenager, who lost his way due to more than one reason, in a rainy night, and took shelter in the tent, kept on shouting, “Put the lights off.” It was only around dawn that other residents of the tent finally took a breath of relief, when the tippler left after slipping into his senses.

Bharmour could make a Minister clap

Himachal Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmouri known for his love for singing and dancing seems so much obsessed with his constituency Bharmour that mere mention of his constituency in any speech or debate could make him attentive or clap. last occasion was Governor’s address to the Assembly, when Governor Urmila Singh was delivering her long address mostly centric on Government achievement in past one year. After nearly 45 minutes of the long address most of legislators including Chief Minister were seen taking a nap but suddenly the Governor mentioned the name of Bharmour and Forest Minister started thumping the desk. Dozing legislators suddenly woke up thinking the address was over but everyone later realised that it was Bharmour, who did the mischief of waking them up.

Two competing real brothers

The atmosphere at Himachal Pradesh Assembly is charged up during ongoing Budget Session with Opposition staging protest every single day with only Congress and Independent MlAs attending the proceedings of the House. While Maheshwar Singh is the lone MlA from Himachal lokhit Party (HlP), his younger brother Karan Singh is Congress MlA. When either of the two brothers raise their hands for a question or point out at some issue, everyone knows what will follow next. It has now become a habit that when one brother is raising a question, then supplementary question is bound to come from the other brother. Rivalry between two is well known both inside and outside the House and their competition is just to overshadow over each other on any issue. Such was the situation, that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had to point at one time jokingly that when younger brother is asking a question, the elder brother should show some restrain.
