The love for chair

The love for chair is translated as ‘Kursi Ka Prem’ in Haryana and aptly fits recently appointed Minister of Transport Aftab Ahmed. After taking the oath of office and secrecy from Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia, Ahmed immediately dashed to the Haryana Civil Secretariat and grabbed the chair of Transport Minister of Haryana on 8th floor, even before the allotment of the portfolio to him. He remained in the office of Minister of Transport for more than two hours even though the official announcement of the department he would be getting was made much later in the evening. Babus in the Secretariat immediately quipped “yeh to Kursi ka Prem hai” (This is love for the Chair).

BJP takes a dig at Rahul

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s speeches against BJP are not at all troubling the main Opposition. At least this is what they claim. The BJP said Rahul is many “light years” away from its PM candidate Narendra Modi in political standing. Taking a dig at Rahul, BJP national spokesperson Captain Abhimanyu addressing mediapersons here said that Rahul should speak more and more at public platforms. This is how people would know about Rahul and will also know that Modi is far better than Rahul in every way. He also went on to say that Rahul stands nowhere near Modi and this will be proved in upcoming elections.

Dengue scare, a fever most wanted

The sudden out burst of dengue in Haryana, had its toll on the psyche of the denizens of city beautiful. The sudden change in season and the cold that is slowly enveloping the city has left many with mild fever. But the fear of dengue played its role taking a toll on various Government hospitals in the city limits. Many visiting OPD’s had normal viral fever but thanks to few private labs, sampling blood, most of them were detected with low platelets count, a precursor of dengue. Instead of medicine, all the doctors of the Government hospital had to give free psychological lesson convincing, the otherwise convinced patients, that they are not stung by the deadly mosquito but only suffering the wrath of the dynamics of weather. However, it was an uphill task, with few convinced and others happy with dengue a ‘fever most unwanted’.

Raja Saheb keeps cabinet hostage

When it comes to dealing with iron hand, no one except Raja Saheb Virbhadra Singh can do it better. On Saturday last, Himachal Pradesh Cabinet cancelled the lease of cricket association in its over five hour long meeting. Police were given marching orders and were asked to bring the properties of HPCA under their control. But what was astonishing was Cabinet meet, which started its meeting around 4 pm and continued till police action had begun. Raja Saheb ensured that none of his Cabinet colleague leave the meeting room till he was reassured about no leaks about police action. Some say that Raja Saheb knew that HPCA chief was calling a Minister of his Cabinet to know about the decision taken but till then damage had already been done.

Garlands for black flags

Following cancellation of leases of properties on the eve of his two-day Hamirpur district visit, the stronghold of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his son Anurag Thakur, Virbhadra Singh clearly showed who the boss is. While he was returning from Sujjanpur, the Chief Minister was shown black flags by the supporters of Opposition opposing the Government action.  Known for good sense of humour, Raja Saheb threw some garlands he was wearing towards the agitators and said god bless you all.
