Bajwa looks for cheap publicity

On the fast track of publicity, the Congress does not believe in wasting time to take credit. The party on Friday hopped on the publicity bandwagon by issuing a Press note without even waiting to lay its hands on the Punjab and Haryana High Court orders in the gram panchayat grants case. In fact, party's Punjab president Partap Singh Bajwa minced no words to take credit for raising the issue, but in the process forgot all about the individuial efforts of its MlAs. That's right, he forgot all about Kapurthala MlA, who had actually moved the High Court against the forgotten promise of granting Rs 3 lakh each to the gram panchayats elected unanimously. In the process, it left MlA Rana Gurjit Singh fretting and fuming. He could be heard blaming Bajwa over the phone for attempts to steal the credit. Well, Bajwa you have to take people along, while travelling towards fame, lest you find yourself carrying extra baggage of blame.

BJP turns ‘saviours’

With lok Sabha elections 2014 nearing, the city BJP has donned the role of “saviors” of city denizens. The never-ending clashes between UT Police and general public, UT’s demolition drives, poor transport facilities among others issues, have all of a sudden, caught the attention of the party. And, BJP leaders are busy meeting UT higher ups like UT Administrator, IGP and other senior officials, raising issues of public interests now. Given the number of meetings with UT higher-ups, the BJP has become hyper-active, apparently trying to cash in on the old issues concerning the general public here.

Tri-city tipplers having a rough date

Tipplers in the city beautiful are having a rough time as their phase of hic hic hurray is about to become a thing of the past with the UT announcing 30 percent hike on Excise, increasing the tax on liquor. However, the best came from a city tippler who said that one who has to drink will drink even if the price goes up. However now he will be able to drink any where in the tri-city because there won’t be a huge difference in the prices at Panchkula or Mohali though in Haryana the prices would be cheaper as compared to Chandigarh and Punjab.

Run for the sake of existence

Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Phool Chand Mullana has to huff and puff  at the age of 70, running from one corner of the State to the other to counter the aggressive campaign of the INlD and the BJP-HJC combine in the State against the State and the Central Government. Earlier, the party president used to cancel party tour in the state often due to his old age and health. However, now, when different political parties INlD, BJP, HJC are breathing down the neck of the Congress, Mullana has become “active”. Moreover, Mullana has been living an extended life as so far no announcement has come regarding the next HPCC President. He doesn’t want to leave any loophole which may be fatal for his political career.
