Two women were arrested from Chandigarh airport on Thursday for allegedly entering into a reserved area by showing fake E-tickets. Both were sent for one day police remand.

“The duo, Uma Singhal (59) and Sudha Joshi (66) were arrested from the terminal area of Chandigarh airport premises where they had entered by showing fake E-tickets to the officials on entry gate, said Yashpal Singh, SHO/police station Sector-31.

The ladies claimed that they had visited the terminal area of airport to see off their relatives, who went there to board a flight on Thursday morning.

However, SHO said they were arrested by the airport officials as no person who has come to see off a passenger, can enter in the terminal area, as the area is reserved only for passengers and no outsider can enter. There is a host area constructed from where no relative of passenger can go ahead. However both of them had entered in terminal area by showing fake e-tickets.

“A case under Air craft Act 1937 and Section 420 of IPC has been registered. The duo on Thursday were sent for one-day remand by district court for further investigation,” said Sarabhjit Kaur, Investigating Officer.
