Seven people, including two women, were killed on Sunday when a privately-owned mini-bus rolled down a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district.

Police said that the bus rolled down a 500-feet gorge and the bus driver was among the dead. The accident took place near Haripurdhar in Sangrah, one of the remotest areas in the state, some 95 km from Nahan.

Nine people were also injured in the accident. They have been admitted to Government hospitals in Haripurdhar and Sangrah, said Police officials.

Most of the victims were locals. Himachal Governor Urmila Singh and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed grief over death of passengers in the accident and wished speedy recovery to the injured passengers. The Chief Minister has also directed the district administration to take all possible measures to rescue the survivors and provide them relief.
