Punjab on Saturday reported 1179 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the tally to 1,87,348. A total of 12 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 5910 in the State, according to a medical bulletin. Punjab has been witnessing a surge in the number of fresh Covid-19 cases for nearly four weeks.
The number of active cases in the State is 7164 on Saturday. Ludhiana reported a maximum of 164 cases, Jalandhar 154, Patiala 109, among the new cases that surfaced in the State.
A total of 644 patients were discharged after recovering from the infection, taking the number of those recovered to 1,74,274, as per the bulletin. There are 20 critical patients who are on ventilator support while 131 are on oxygen support. A total of 51,59, 683 samples have been collected for testing so far in the State, it said.
