Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema on Tuesday summoned 186 teachers or lecturers who have shown poor performance by delivering 80 to 100 per cent result failure in board examinations of class X and XII.

The teachers, with poor result, have been summoned on January 6, 2016, at Mohali’s head office for a brainstorming session wherein reasons for the result failure would be probed and ways and means would be suggested for the education reform.

The move is aimed at upgrading the education standards in the Government schools of the State.

“Out of these 186 teachers or lecturers, 32 teachers have shown worst result with 100 percent result failure in class X and XII examinations,” said Cheema.

likewise, the average result failure of four teachers is ranging between 95 to 99 per cent, 15 teachers with average 90 to 94 per cent result failure and average 80 to 89 per cent students failed in their examinations taught by 135 teachers.

Cheema said that the department had sought online data of result of Class X and XII for the last five years. “Based on data received, a comprehensive database has been prepared which has revealed the average result of each teacher or lecturer in the previous five years,” he said.

He said that total 3,017 teachers have delivered less than 50 per cent result. “The teachers with worst result would be summoned in phased manner and a personal meeting with each teacher or lecturer would be held in to improve their performance,” he said.
