The 16th Inter Central Power Sector Undertaking (ICPSUs) Table Tennis tournament was inaugurated by SK Biswas, Director(Personnel), THDC India limited (THDCIl) at Rishikesh on Tuesday.
The tournament is being organised by THDCIl under the aegis of Power Sports Control Board (PSEB), Ministry of Power, Government of India from 14 to 17 January. SK Agarwal, GM welcomed the chief guest, teams, visitors and urged them to enjoy the game. Biswas hoisted PSEB flag and took salute of march-past presented by participating teams and 10th Garhwal Regiment Band.
Speaking on the occasion Biswas enthusiastically told that since inception of PSEB in 1994 every ICPSU is organizing allocated tournaments annually. He told that Secretary Power, Government of India, PK Sinha has decided in a meeting recently held with CMD's of ICPSU's to establish a Power Sports Academy at Delhi or at nearby any power station as well as to institute “Ministry of Power Award/Trophy” and the award will be conferred to Best performing ICPSU annually.
OS Maurya, Captain, THDCIl administered the Oath of Sportsmen Spirit to the players. Various cultural programmes presented by the kids of THDCIl employees' grabbed the attention of the gathering and appreciated by everybody. A total of nine teams participated in the tournament were divided in two pools. The Pool “A” comprised of teams of Ministry of Power, (MOP), Power Grid Corporation of India limited (PGCIl), NHPC limited, Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam limited (SJVNl) & Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) whereas Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), Power Finance Corporation (PFC) & THDC India limited were in Pool ‘B’.
