Transparency has taken another major stride in Punjab with 158 out of 164 Fard kendras of the state Revenue Department going online.

From now on, any land owner can get a certified copy of the jamabandi (Record of Rights) from any Fard Kendra in the state. Notably, the Revenue Department had initiated a project in 2004 to digitize the land records. “Out of a total around 13,000 villages in the state, only 100 urban villages are left due to complex revenue record and work is going on make their land records online,” said the state Revenue Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria on Friday.

Besides, under this project, revenue records will be updated directly on the central server (cloud) without any delay, he said adding that the property record now is just a click away.

Elaborating, Sarkaria said that now a resident of Faridkot district can get a certified copy of jamabandi from a Fard Kendra in Khanna. This project has come as a boon for the people of Punjab as it will save time from the cumbersome paper work. The Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner (Revenue) MP Singh directed the Director Land Records (DLRs) and Punjab Land Records Society (PLRS) to complete the project by December 31, 2018. He said that the Revenue Department was fully committed to providing hassle-free services to the people in a transparent manner.
