Under the new version of Punjab Government’s multi-faceted and ambitious project, Atta-Dal Scheme, nearly 1.42 crore beneficiaries are expected to get wheat and pulses.
“The Government would distribute a composite lot of wheat of six months from the month June to November in 2014 and pulses for three months to all these beneficiaries,” said the State Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Adaish Partap Singh Kairon while speaking to the public during formal inauguration of Atta-Dal Scheme.
In Fatehgarh Sahib district alone, 2,60,203 beneficiaries would be provided wheat at the subsidized rate of `one per kg and pulses at the rate of `20 per kg.
The Minister said that the Government has constituted seven-member committees at the level of every village and the members in these committees have been inducted from the beneficiaries itself. “It would be mandatory to induct three woman members, one from SC category and one from Backward Castes in the committee” he added.
Kairon said that under this Atta-Dal Scheme, all those families would be covered, whose annual income is less than `60,000 and who possess less than 2.5 acre land holding and house on an area less than 10 marlas.
