In a rape which has sent shock waves across the city in the New Year, the police have registered a case of rape against an unknown person, who allured a minor 13-year old girl and left her pregnant. The incident came to light when  the victim gave birth to a baby girl at GMCH sector-32 on Wednesday.

Charanjit Singh, SHO, Police Station Manimajra said that a 13-year old girl, who delivered a baby girl, had complained about stomach ache. She was admitted in the hospital where doctors confirmed pregnancy. “The victim had developed complications in her pregnancy, hence we had to take a quick decision. The condition of minor is critical along with the baby she delivered”, a doctor said.

The victim is not in a position to say anything at this juncture about the person who allured her and raped her. Even the parents of the girl, who are shocked after this incident, told the police that their daughter used to complain about pain in her stomach, but they never had an idea about her pregnancy. Police have registered a case of rape under section 376 of IPC and section 4 of POSCO Act against an unknown person, added Charanjit Singh.        PNS
