On the last day of withdrawal of nominations for the Punjab Assembly polls, 1,146 candidates will fight for 117 Assembly seats in the State. An official spokesperson of the Chief Electoral Office Punjab said that 114 candidates withdrew on the last date of withdrawals of candidature. For the Amritsar lok Sabha bye-poll, 9 candidates are left in the contest.
Earlier, 1,941 nominations were received out of which 1,260 nominations were accepted on the last day of scrutiny.
