Eleven Naxalites, one of them carrying a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head, surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Wednesday, police said.

The cadres, who were with the Malangir Area Committee, gave themselves up at the Kirandul police station, citing their disappointment with the Maoist ideology, Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava said.

Of the 11, Rambati Barse (24) was a Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangathan President while the others were associated with the outlawed CPI-ML's frontal wings. Barse carried a reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head.

The Maoists were given an immediate assistance of Rs 10,000 each and will get facilities as per the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, the officer added.

Since the launch of a police initiative in June, 397 Naxalites have surrendered in the district.
