Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Saturday said that an ambitious scheme 'Dial 112' will be launched in the state on July 12 to improve the functioning of the police.

The Chief Minister Manohar Lal will launch the scheme and the government has prepared about 600 vehicles which will be GPS enabled.

All the facilities have been provided in these vehicles which are connected to a call centre. Two vehicles each would be provided in every police station of Haryana. The police will reach the spot within 15 minutes through these vehicles if they receive a distress call, the Minister said. Elaborating, he further said that a provision has also been made in these vehicles to videograph the crime scene on the spot  and all this data will go to our call centre.  Apart from this, fire brigade and ambulance have also been integrated in it and they will also reach the spot if required. With the implementation of this scheme, the police services will be enhanced. A separate call centre has been set up in Panchkula and the employees have been given special training to operate the call centre, Vij added.
