Haryana Swabhimaan Andolan leader Ramesh Dalal on Monday said that Khap or caste council leaders had made an effort to unite the Chautala family and build an alliance between two parties JJP and INLD but JJP leader Dushyant Chautala had made false statements on several occasions before breaking the dialogue. Dalal, who along with several Khap leaders had been trying for unity in the Chautala clan ahead of the Assembly polls, claimed that knowing that JJP would not have an alliance with Indian National Lok Dal, the Bahujan Samaj Party broke the alliance with JJP recently.
Dalal said that to unite the family, the Khap delegation led by him had met Ajay Singh Chautala on August 26 who had praised Khap leaders’ efforts and its mission of grand alliance between two parties JJP and INLD.
Giving a sequence of the events, Dalal said Ajay Chautala had promised the Khap panchayat leaders that he had ordered Dushyant to reach Meena Bagh, New Delhi on September 1 to attend meeting with Khap leaders. Ajay had decided the place and date of above meeting and said that he would accept the decision of Khap Panchayat.
On August 27, Ajay Chautala apparently talked with Ramesh Dalal over phone and said, “I am standing at the entry gate of Tihar Jail and I have told Dushyant to attend Panchayat meeting and obey the Panchayat’s decision".On August 31 Dushyant Chautala had a conversation with Dalal over the phone and he said that he has no information about the meeting with khap panchayat on September 1. He would meet Ajay Chautala on September 3 and after the meeting he would be able to give any answer in this regard. According to Dalal, on September 1, the Panchayat wrote a letter to Dushyant asking him to clarify his position regarding the grand alliance effort. At the same time, he was asked clearly whether he wanted a panchayat agreement in the grand alliance. On the same Dushyant admitted at a press conference in Chandigarh that he had spoken to Ramesh Dalal in this context.
Dushyant admitted that if both the parties meet then they will definitely get strength. Dushyant said that he would take a decision after talking to senior JJP leaders and BSP and Ajay Chautala. During this time the BSP leaders were in touch with Ramesh Dalal regarding the grand alliance which made it clear to Dushyant that without the INLD-JJP alliance, the BSP would not be with the JJP. Dushyant on September 5 requested Ramesh Dalal to first come alone and meet him at 4 am at the Farm House in Delhi before having meeting of Khap Panchayat. In the meeting Dushyant made it clear that he would meet Ajay Chautala again. Then at 4 o'clock in the evening, Dushyant again called Ramesh Dalal alone and said that he would meet the panchayat later but in the meeting Dushyant did not give any clear answer about the alliance. On September 8, Dalal wrote a letter on behalf of Khap Panchayat again and asked to clarify the stand in the context of the alliance.
