“Arrested” Goldy Brar surfaces in interview, refutes Mann’s claims on detention in US

Published on:

Days after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann claimed that the mastermind in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case, Goldy Brar, has been detained by the US authorities in USA, the most-wanted gangster said to have given an phone-in interview to a Punjab-based YouTube journalist refuting claims regarding his detention.

Satinder Singh alias Goldy Brar, a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and prime member of Bishnoi gang, also claimed that he was, in fact, not in the US. In Goldy Brar’s purported 25-minute-long interview, he claimed that he had left Canada and also the United States long ago. And, in fact, he was “currently in Europe”.

At the same time, “Goldy Brar” asserted that he would never be caught alive. He added that in case he lands in a situation where he could be arrested, he always carries a weapon and would “shoot self dead”.

Another person purported to be Landa Harike — the prime accused in Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) attack on Punjab police’s intelligence headquarters in Mohali, on May 9 — can also be heard speaking during the interview.

Neither anyone from the Punjab Police nor from the State Government has verified the authenticity of the voice in the interview to be of Goldy Brar’s only.

The development came two days after the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, while addressing a press conference in Gujarat, had announced, “Being the head of the State, I tell you that a big gangster sitting in Canada, Goldy Brar, has been detained in America. It is a confirmed news.” He had also announced that the gangster would soon be brought to India.

A day later, Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Maan had also claimed that Goldy Brar would be brought back to Punjab from Canada. However, no official confirmation came from Punjab police regarding being in touch with the US authorities or otherwise.

Brar is wanted by Indian authorities for various crimes, including the sensational murder of Sidhu Moosewala in May this year.

CM Stand By His Claims: AAP

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang told the media that the Chief Minister stands by his claim. He said that it was up to the Opposition to believe Brar, a gangster, or a democratically chosen Chief Minister.

Opposition Lashes Out, Questions’ CM’s Silence

A day after Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leader Bikram Majithia had alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had lied that Brar was detained, the party on Monday asked the AAP leader on maintaining silence after purported interviews of Goldy Brar had appeared in public domain.

“It is shocking that more than three days had passed since the Chief Minister made a tall claim on detention of Goldy Brar in USA by US agencies in Gujarat with a sole motive to garner votes for AAP. Since then, neither the Indian Foreign Ministry, nor Home Ministry or even Punjab DGP had confirmed the Chief Minister’s claims. The US agencies had also not uttered a word on claims of the Punjab CM,” said SAD spokesman and legal advisor Arshdeep Singh Kaler.

LoP Seeks Official Statement from MEA or MHA

Reacting on the controversy over the arrest of gangster Goldy Brar, senior Congress leader and the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday sought a detailed official statement from a senior official of Ministry of External Affairs or some official from the Union Home Ministry to end the speculations.

“Although Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, while addressing a press conference in Gujarat, confirmed Goldy Brar's arrest, we doubt his confirmation because Mann has previously been caught lying on various issues. Mann often issues statements or makes promises that later on turned out to be misleading or hollow,” he said.

Bajwa said that as a star campaigner in Gujarat, CM Mann had lied on numerous issues including law and order situations, employment situation, an old pension scheme, and the financial condition of the state. The list of his lies was long, hence it was hard to believe what CM claimed, he added

“Since Goldy Brar is believed to be the mastermind in the brutal murder of singer and rapper, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu aka Sidhu Moosewala, the people of Punjab have strong sentiments with this case, thus, they deserve to know the truth about Goldy Brar's arrest,” he said.
