Sumit Deb has assumed charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NMDC Limited on 01August, 2020. Prior to assuming the role of CMD, NMDC, Sumit Deb was Director (Personnel) and succeeds N Baijendra Kumar, IAS, who has superannuated from the services of the Corporation yesterday.He brings with him vast knowledge gathered through his extensive experience at RINL& NMDC. He aspires to help NMDC reach new heights and levels of success.
He joinedNMDC as General Manager (Commercial) in 2015, later he was then promoted asExecutive Director (Personnel & Administration) at NMDC.In 2019 heassumed charge as Director (Personnel) and was heading various functions of Personnel& Admin, Human Resource Development, Law, Corporate Communications, CSR,Rajbhashaand has given a new dimension to company’s vision & objectives.
Sumit Deb is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneshwar. Prior to NMDC,he was withRashtriyaIspat Nigam Limited (RINL). He joined as a Management Trainee and worked with RINL for about 25 years accumulating rich and diverse experience in the steel industry.
He has worked in different regions of the country, dealing with heterogeneous mix of both external as well as internal customers and handling the domains of HR, marketing & distribution.
Shri Deb has diverse experience in man power & succession planning, training & development and other HR functions. He also has experience in the marketing and distribution of steel &iron ore, sponge iron, pellets and diamonds.
