Sensex down 208 pts

Amid heavy profit booking in real estate, information technology (IT) and capital goods (CG) sectors, the benchmark Sensex tumbled by 207.70 points to nearly three-week low of 22,277.23. Rupee also depreciated by 14 paise to its three-week closing low of Rs 60.37 per dollar due to capital outflows as foreign institutional investors continued to book profits.

As per experts, profit-booking and selling pressures are likely to continue after the recent rally in stock markets. The broader index, Nifty also plunged by 57.80 points to end at 6,675.30. All the three top IT companies ended as big losers of the day. Infosys fell by 3.19 per cent while Wipro and TCS slid by 2.90 per cent and 2.51 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, rupee lost 14 paise to Rs 60.37 per dollar amid capital outflows and continuing demand for the US currency from oil refiners.
