On back of sustained dollar selling by exporters and corporates and heavy capital inflows by foreign institutional investors (FII), rupee appreciated by 11 paise and ended the session at more than one-week high of Rs60.31 per dollar. Unlike the currency, Sensex ended the day marginally down by 48.39 points at 22,417.80.

As per forex experts, with all eyes closely watching the outcome of US Federal Reserve’s meeting, weak US currency added strength to rupee. But the fall in equity markets restricted the surge in the domestic currency, experts added. The dollar index was down by 0.14 per cent against a basket of six major global currencies.
