Seven private airlines, including the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines, owe the national airports operator AAI Rs 457.89 crore on account of airport charges as on September 30 this year, Government said on Wednesday.

Kingfisher Airlines, which no longer operates and whose flying permit expired about two years ago, had the highest outstanding amount at Rs 294.57 crore in the total dues, as per the figures provided by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. “Private airlines have been paying their dues to Government and other agencies. However, dues payable to AAI for airport charges is placed at Annexure,” Sinha said in his reply.
