Japanese carmaker Nissan on Thursday unveiled its entry level small hatchback redi-GO under the Datsun brand . The car will be launched in the first week of June.

The Datsun redi-Go is going to compete with the likes of Renault Kwid, from which it has borrowed some features as well as the design language, Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and the Hyundai EON. The company, however, did not announce the price of the car.

“The bookings for the model would start in May and deliveries would begin in June,” said Nissan Motor India MD Arun Malhotra.

With new product launch the company is also increasing dealership outlets. “Nissan’s current pan-India sales and service network stands at 215 outlets across 165 cities in the country and our target is to set up 300 outlets across the country by the end of March 2017,” added Malhotra.

“The company also plans to come up with a financing scheme so that more and more customers could buy Datsun vehicles,” he said.

Redi-GO is the company’s third vehicle from under the Datsun brand in India and has come up on a brand new platform developed in India.

last year, the automaker had launched a compact multi- purpose vehicle Go+ to add to the Go small car to expand its network in small towns to boost sales of its Datsun brand of vehicles.

In 2014, when Nissan launched the Datsun Go in India, marking the global comeback of the brand after nearly three decades, it had said it was aiming to garner 10 per cent share in the Indian passenger vehicles market by 2016.
