Silicon valley giant MediaTek Inc has tied up with Indian handset major Micromax to increase 4G adoption in India. With this collaboration Micromax will also become the first brand to launch devices powered by MediaTek's new Helio platform.
Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja unveiled the first smartphone, Micromax Canvas Fire 4G, running on MediaTek's MT6735 processor. Underlining that MediaTek had a big role to play in the growth of Micromax, Taneja said his company was committed to 4G adoption in India.
“We have always endeavoured to offer products based on certain needs of the consumer. Moving forward, we will lead the 4G adoption in the country by converting all our popular value Canvas series to 4G. Canvas Fire 4G is the first in a series of such launches,” Taneja said.
