Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday refuted the allegations that the Centre was planning to shift a mega power equipment production plant at Mannavaram out of Andhra Pradesh, saying it will not be shifted but intensive efforts would be made to improve its business to create more employment opportunities.
“The Mannavaram Power Projects Equipment Manufacturing Plant will not be shifted to any other place and intensive efforts will be made to ensure more business for employment generation,” Goyal said, after a review meeting chaired by Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. Naidu convened a meeting with Goyal, Heavy Industries minister Anant Geete, Chairmen and Managing Directors of NTPC, BHEl and other senior officials including those of NTPC, BHEl Power Projects ltd (NBPPl) which is executing the project.
