Kalraj bats for multi-pronged approach in MSME sector

Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Kalraj Mishra on Monday has said that there is a need for developing a multi-pronged approach to improve productivity in the MSME sector through innovative means. Highlighting the significant role played by the MSMEs in job creation, DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant said steps must be taken to enhance their productivity to achieve sustained economic growth of 9 to 10 per cent.

"If India has to grow at 9 to 10 per cent over a long time, India must create jobs and jobs can only come through MSMEs, therefore enhancing their productivity is crucial,” Kant said at a National Productivity Council award function here.MSME Secretary Anup K Pujari also emphasised that there should be an urgent need to enhance productivity in the MSME sector through the National Productivity Council.
