Japanese carmaker, Honda, on Wednesday launched the second-generation of their small sedan, the Amaze. Built on an all-new platform the new Amaze is expected to provide stiff competition to maruti-Suzuki’s best-selling Dzire and has given a host of features and been in order to compete in the popular ‘Compact Sedan’ segment. The Amaze is ready for the major safety changes that will become mandatory from April 1, 2019 and has Anti-lock Brakes (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) as well as a driver and passenger airbag as standard. like the current car, the Amaze will be available with a petrol and a diesel option. However, it does bring in a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic variant alongside the manual options, this will be a segment first particularly since Honda is offering a CVT in the diesel Amaze as well. A CVT is considered a more, modern and better automatic than the Automated manual Transmission (AMT) that Maruti-Suzuki offers on the Amaze.

The Amaze will be available in four specification levels for the manual cars and two for the CVT variants, the top-end model featuring an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The petrol version of the Amaze features a 1.2 litre engine with 90 horsepower and prices start at Rs 5.6 lakh and go up to Rs 8 lakh. The diesel features a 1.5 litre engine with 100 horsepower (manual) and 80 horsepower (CVT) and prices start at Rs 6.6 lakh to go up to Rs 9 lakh. These prices are introductory prices, however the carmaker has taken advantage of the GST and kept prices the same across India.
