New Delhi: The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 10 to Rs 2,820 with effect from Sunday, while aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has become costlier by Rs 1.37 per litre, taking its price to Rs 138.50, according to state-owned oil marketing companies.

This is the third consecutive monthly increase in commercial LPG prices, following hikes of Rs 9.50 on September 1 and Rs 62.50 on October 1. The latest revision comes after two monthly reductions of Rs 183.50 in July and Rs 192 in August.

Commercial LPG prices had surged by Rs 1,373 per cylinder between February and June, rising from Rs 1,740.50 to a record Rs 3,113.50, before the subsequent cuts.

ATF prices have now increased for the fourth consecutive month. Jet fuel rates were raised by Rs 5 per litre in August, Rs 6.28 in September and Rs 16 in October. ATF accounts for up to 40 per cent of an airline’s operating costs, adding to the financial burden on carriers.

Prices of domestic LPG remain unchanged at Rs 942 for a 14.2-kg cylinder. A 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinder for a new connection is priced at Rs 1,903, while a refill costs Rs 782.

LPG and ATF prices are revised on the first day of every month, based on international benchmarks and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Rates may vary across states due to local taxes.

The revision follows the Centre’s decision on Saturday to scrap the export duty on petrol while raising the levy on diesel exports to Rs 11.50 per litre and on ATF exports to Rs 11 per litre.
