Paving the way for a smarter way to manage students and raising the bar of their performance levels, Indian schools have now adopted the innovative Capita SIMS Technology.

Tailored to meet the needs of a particular school and assess a student effectively, the programme has been adopted by six schools in India including the Doon school, Canadian International School, Wynberg-Allen school, White Field Global, British school and Genesis school. The software being developed for 25 years by the active involvement of the teachers addresses the needs of the schools in monitoring and managing a student effectively and has thus been adopted by 22,000 schools in the United Kingdom.

The comprehensive programme by bringing together students, parents and teachers on a common platform, moves beyond the conventional programmes. "The innovative programme departures from other school managing solutions in the market by putting all the three stakeholders - parents, students and teachers accountable in the process of learning. SIMS Capita puts the parents in picture to monitor the performance of their students, much before any parent-teacher meeting can. The parents can track the performance of their students by accessing the login page of the website. Not just the performance, the programme provides several additional features and the parents can track the behavioural patterns of their children," said Graham Cooper, Head of Product Strategy, Capita SIMS.

He added that India provides a huge opportunity for the product as education is very important for the nation. "The potential for the programme is significant in the country and Indian market for the product can turn out to be comparable to that of UK's. Also, there are no massive changes required to be made to the product to suit the Indian schools as India and Britain share a common history. Apart from the metro cities, we are targeting state capitals such as lucknow, Bhubaneshwar for the launch of the product and for it to be tested for both metro and non-metro cities," he said.

Explaining the benefits of the programme he said, "It provides solutions for the teachers by relieving them of the mundane administrative work so that they can focus their energy on teaching. The schools can customize the modules such as attendance, time-table, homework etc according to their needs. The best thing about the programme is that it doesn't go outside the schools and is developed by the teachers themselves. It also introduces uniformity among all the teachers of the school in assessing the student on the set parameters," he added.
