In quest of bringing in strong brand equity and effective network management that helps the company retains most of the industry share, Japanese imaging product major Canon India is expecting a market share of 50 per cent in this calendar year, especially in digital single lens reflex camera (DSlR) segment.

“With the launch of such evolutionary products, we foresee our numbers to grow and achieve a market share of 50 per cent in the DSlR segment.” Kazutada Kobayashi, President and CEO, Canon India said while launching its products here at a press conference.

Speaking at the launch, Kobayashi stated, “India is an important market for us. We being a digital imaging leader in the region are committed to bring innovation and advancements on the table.”

In a bid to popularise photography, the Japanese company also plans to increase it to 200 Canon Image Squares this year as it expects its retail outlets to popularise photography.

“We are planning to take our total Canon Image Squares count to 200 by this calendar year. We want these squares to play the role of evangelists in popularising photography culture. These stores will help in engaging with our customers more closely,” Kobayashi added.
