The Union Telecom Minister, Ravishankar Prasad on Friday inaugurated two ambitious services of BSNl called BSNl BUZZ and SpeedPay. Urging the BSNl to improve its mobile services further, the minister said that BSNl BUZZ will provide a variety of interactive and easy to use services such as content, news, contests, subscription packs, coupons and advertising.
The BUZZ will also deliver location-based information services in sven Indian languages - Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, Malyalam, Kannada and Telegu. The service will allow BSNl mobile to reach its consumers in a cost-effective, non-intrusive and friendly manner. The BSNl BUZZ App will be embedded in every BSNl Mobile SIM card within the network enabling interactive cell broadcast.
The SPEEDPAY is an open prepaid instrument which can be used as a means for purchase of goods and services at any card accepting merchant location (point of sale terminals) and allow cash withdrawal at ATMs / customer service points. Person to person wallet at the nearest BSNl retailer spread across India.
A major part of the population has a mobile phone, but no bank account - thus, making the case for using mobile phones for delivery of financial services.Prasad informed that both the services are part of Digital India programme which aim to give good governance and thereby empowering the people of India digitally. With Speed Pay a poor man can transfer money to his mother in a village with a click of a button. These are good revolutions which will help the country to grow.
