Taking the ongoing dull automobile market scenario as a challenge as well as an opportunity, German carmaker BMW on Thursday launched its new roadster BMW Z4 in the country priced between Rs 68.9 lakh to 69.9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Talking about the reasons of launching the new roadster Z4, BMW Group India President Philipp von Sahr said, “the current economic situation has become a challenge for every carmaker and BMW is no exception. But we need to act today to secure our future through relevant and better products. BMW had anticipated well and is ready with products to excite markets.”
He added that “the new product embodies the excitement of dynamism and aesthetics in a more uncompromising style than ever before and this will go a long way in establishing BMW as a premium brand, as we don't expect much sales like our BMW 3 Series or 5 Series, 7 Series and the like”.
The company also admitted that it would be difficult to achieve last year's sales figure because of the current difficult microeconomic conditions prevailing in the country.
“last year we sold 9, 375 cars in the Indian market but this year it looks difficult. But we are trying to compensate this by opening showrooms in emerging cities like lucknow and Raipur among others,” Sahr said.
The new BMW Z4 comes with state-of-the-art safety features to provide maximum support in any situation with four air bags, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Brake Assist, Rollover Protection System, Side Impact Protection and impact absorbing front and rear bumpers.
The new BMW Z4 also features the Driving Experience Control switch, which enables the driver to choose between different driving modes to suit the driving conditions.
It is also equipped with the most comprehensive technology packages to reduce fuel consumption and increase driving dynamics - such as Intelligent lightweight Construction, Electric Power Steering, 50:50 Weight Distribution and many other innovative technologies.
